Echo Ukrainetz

I have been working with batik for 20 years first doing cards and simple wall hangings and then progressing to framed fine art, which is sold through my studio as well as a number of galleries. I have always used Procion dyes; I enjoy "playing" with the colors and have never been disappointed in the product. I combine both traditional over-dying with the painting process to acquire the colors my works require. Beeswax and paraffin are both used in different combinations, depending on the final look desired. I enjoy the electric tjanting tool from Dharma and look forward to becoming an expert on its use. My inspiration comes from my studies in Art History, collaboration with my husband (also a professional Artist), nature and a love for color. It is always exciting to remove the wax at the end of each project because the outcome is a surprise no matter how careful you plan. Every batik is truly a "whole new ball of wax".
