Ordinary Average Tie-Dye Guy
A poem by Eric Nykanen

I'm just an ordinary, average guy -
An ordinary average tie-dye guy -

I get up each mornin', just like you,
Cup of coffee, off to work.
When I get there, it's a relief,
'Cause I have no boss, no other jerks.

I peddle my ride with two wheels,
'Bout 7 minutes, I'm cruisin' into gear.
My headphones keep me apprised,
It's 10am, tie-dye Eric arrives.

I'm just an ordinary, average guy -
An ordinary average tie-dye guy -

Hit the radio, sports talk all day,
Rome spewin', stopped rainin',
It's gonna be sunny - OK!

I fill the washer, another day of dyes,
My heart and soul in every fold,
As the colors start to rise.

Corporate Amerika is now in my past,
Livin' and dyein' in 3/4 time,
Is now how I last.
This translates to me,
Why I'm feelin' so fine...
While the rest of the people work the 9 to 5.

I'm just an ordinary, average guy -
An ordinary average tie-dye guy -

When I take a break,
It's for 18 holes,
Electronic golf, glass of Bud,
Bud in my bowl.

At the end of the day,
It's as colorful as could be.
I've created visions of beauty,
That people have never seen.

I pack 'em on home,
Bike through a light rain,
Maybe another 18 holes,
For sure 1 or 2 more bowls,
'Cause it's just another day for me...

An ordinary, average tie-dye guy.

Eric Nykanen,
Love Lite Tie-Dye
