I fell in love with Tie dye while in college. I was also teaching, got interested in fitness and loved to model. I even went back to school and took some ASL classes. After being asked to teach tie dye, a light bulb went off. I finally figured out what to be when I grew up. Tie dyeing and teaching others combined my love of performance, teaching, art, fitness, giving back to the community, and making clients happy. It has challenged me to learn about business and technology.
Back in June of 2011, after being asked to teach tie dye to a group of 50 kids at a summer camp, I was inspired to start a tie dye company. I started my company, Roll Up N Dye, in July that same year.
I create all types of tie dyed items and I teach kids and adults how to make their own art pieces. I love to hold workshops and parties in my studio on Red Branch Road in Columbia, Maryland. We also travel to you. We do in home birthday parties and events at Cultural Festivals, Arts Festivals, for Patient Appreciation Days, Fundraisers... If you want to dye for whatever reason, we make it happen.
I have started traveling to meet other tie dye artists. So far, I have traveled different places and studied with teachers from CA, CO, NM, NJ, PA, and TX. We teach each other techniques and help each other grow, and get the creative juices flowing. It is cool to know that we can share. We each take the knowledge and do our own thing with it. There is also a strong FB community. I learn so much in the Addicted to Tie Dye Group. That is where I met the other artists. We all post questions and help each other out all the time. So, I guess my teachers come from even more places..from all over the world.
I create, unique, and colorful wearable tie dye art. I also teach others how to create beautiful tie dyes using the same professional materials and techniques that I use as an artist.
Even though I live in Maryland, Dharma has been my go to from the very beginning. I purchase dyeables, procion fiber reactive dyes, Sodium Alginate, Soda Ash, Water Softener, Color Remover and more. The customer service is the best. The BEST. I can call and ask questions. Especially in the beginning...I have tried new things thanks to Edie. She has really inspired me, taken the fear out of trying new stuff, new colors. Dharma provides the best in quality product and customer service. (no I am not just kissn' tush to get selected. I mean it and want anyone who may read about me to know that I have grown as an artist with the help of other artists and the support of Dharma Trading Comany)
