I'm a knitter, spinner, dyer, maker. I learned to knit when I was a child of about 8 years old. I rediscovered knitting at about age 20 and I've never looked back. Instead, I've plunged deeper into the world of making. First, I was attracted to handspun yarns, the lumpy-bumpiness and spiritedness of it. My first spinning lesson didn't "take" but after the second try a year later, I was on fire! My interest in fibers led me on a path of discovery. I found so much joy in handling the fibers, dyeing the fibers, creating my own batts and yarn. I used to sell batts on Etsy, but my store has evolved and I now sell handdyed 100% cashmere yarn. I love color and materials, in this case, buttery-soft cashmere.

I use Dharma Acid Dyes and find they are a great quality at a great price. The range of colors is amazing too. I'd love to take credit for the color combinations I create, but sometimes, it is all due to alchemy, fairy dust and whimsy, as I splash colors around on the yarns and wait and see what happens. I'm surprised and delighted as the colors blend, merge and sing together. I cannot wait to see what other artists and makers will imagine and create with my yarn, as it passes through the next set of hands, and the next, and the next…

I met a wonderful lady recently. She runs an orphanage in Shanghai. She is tirelessly raising 10 orphans after raising her own 2 children. I have decided to donate the proceeds of my yarn business towards the orphanage as they are building a new facility now. She has a great vision for the orphans lives, and I am energized by her.
