Helen G. Goldberg

I am an artist, modern dancer, choreographer, and Floridian. I married a commercial diver 26 years ago, and together we have enjoyed scuba diving all over the world. Three years ago, my New Zealand friend introduced me to silk painting, and ever since, I love to paint the underwater world on silk, and now have a company called SeaSilks.

I am self-taught in the silk-painting technique, though I have been an artist all of my life. I simply bought Susan Moyer's book, Silk Painting: The Artist's Guide to Gutta and Wax Resist Techniques, and discovered Dharma Trading Co. (referenced in the back of the book). I use the French Dupont dyes, and paint mostly on Silk Habotai 10 mm; though, I also like the Charmeuse 19.5 mm. I use Dharma's silk painting stretcher frame and extenders, which are fabulous and easy to use. I buy all of my supplies from Dharma, from the Synthrapol to the guttas, and I built a steamer as described in Moyer's book. I enjoy using wax techniques too.
