Jaclin

I am a self-taught artist specializing in silk painting, henna art, and sculptural jewelry based in Greenville, South Carolina. In 2006, I began silk dyeing in order to create dance veils using immersion and tie-dye techniques.
I fell in love with the feel and vibrancy of dye on silk and began silk painting using the serti technique. For my work, I use a variety of sizes and weights of habotai silk scarves, veils, and pillow forms from dharma, silkpaint water soluble resists, and Jacquard green label silk dye as well as Dharma's professional textile detergent, gutta applicator bottles, and metal tips. I enjoy experimenting with a variety of dyeing techniques, fabrics, and color combinations to express my love of movement and nature.
By 2009, the silk paintings and jewelry were beginning to pile up in the corners of my home, and Uniq by Jaidra was born. I began attending arts and craft fairs throughout the Southeast. In 2010, I opened an online store on Etsy and relocated to Greenville, SC where I am currently working on a series of abstract paintings expressing dance and movement for an art gallery exhibition.
