Jade Brush

My name is Jade Brush and I am an artist who began as a drawer, then a painter, and now I thoroughly enjoy dabbling in tie-dye. I started tie-dyeing with my friends for fun and I generally would tie-dye dresses, T-shirts, and various cotton goods that I could get for a good deal at local thrift stores. I even had a tie-dye bachelorette party and I wore the dress I tie-dyed at the party to our rehearsal dinner. It was so much fun! In 2020 I became a new mother and having this new joy in my life inspired me to make tie-dye baby onesies and clothes for our new baby.

I believe in finding a touch of happiness in the little things all around us and one of these simple things is the existence of wonderful colors. Vibrant colors, lots and lots of vibrant colors, bring me so much joy, so when I create I like to use bright, vibrant colors and lots of them. In this way, I hope to share that happiness I feel when I see fun colors with others by creating fun, whimsical, and vibrant tie-dyes. I use Dharma Fiber Reactive Procion Dyes for all of my tie-dye creations. Some of my favorite colors lately are: Deep Orange, Better Black, Navy Blue, Bright Green, Jade Green, Deep Purple, and Coral Pink. My preferred technique is ice dyeing. I enjoy experimenting with different ways to ice dye and the best part about experimenting is you are always surprised with how the garment turns out when the dyeing process is complete. I find that even when I have a plan for my ice-dyes the result is always better than what I pictured it would look like. Ice dye tie-dyeing has become a really fun hobby that I very much enjoy sharing with others and an activity that I hope to enjoy with my child one day.
