When I was a little girl, I spent every spare minute drawing. Then I grew up and left it behind for too many years, trying to be "practical." When my children were little, I needed a creative outlet, some little corner of my life where I could be "ME" and not just "MOMMY" -- somehow I drifted to batik, and found my niche.
Eventually, the so-called "practical" ways of making a living fell apart, and I went back to that little girl with her drawing. I began with tie dyeing t-shirts at local craft shows, and graduated to my real love, batik, at regional art shows. I also make hand-dyed fabrics for quilters.
Batik has become an endless creative challenge for me. I love to test myself to see how far I can go with it. I especially enjoy doing realistic portraits and wildlife pieces, as well as spiritual symbols.
I've been dealing with Dharma for over five years now. Prices are reasonable, service is fast and efficient, but it's the human touch of Dharma that I love. I enjoy getting real folks on the phone when I place an order -- none of the usual "press one" and sit there on hold.
And that wild, wonderful catalogue! Please don't ever go slick and glossy!
