Jessica Wenzler

I started tie-dyeing about seven years ago as a social event with great friends. I love the colors and the happy people who wear them. I am now the mother of three children, ages four and under. My husband, Travis, and I tie-dye together now on Saturday nights while the children sleep. We are both driven onto one creative venture after another. Tie-dyeing is one of our many passions; it reflects our colorful life.

We have been pursuing a way to make stars. We seem to have created our own kind, and are naming them crystal star dyes. For the tie-dyes and crystal stars, I use 100% cotton products, soda ash, rubber bands, Dharma fiber reactive Procion dye, and synthrapol.

The batiking and fabric painting I have done are all ideas that have just come together well. I happened to have some leftover dye from tie-dyeing and decided to paint with it. I have always been an artist, so I happened to have many paint brushes at my discretion. I combine fabric painting, batiking, and tie-dyeing. Beyond the products listed above, I also use paint brushes, batik wax, a tjanting tool, and foam brushes for the fabric painting and batiking.
