Karen Boss

I work in Batik, juxtaposing this ancient, Far East folk tradition with western and contemporary imagery, and presenting it in a fine art form. I use fairly traditional methods, using both bee and paraffin waxes applied by brush on unbleached cotton muslin that has been pretreated in a soda ash bath. I use Dharma brand fiber reactive dyes, but instead of flat dye baths, I apply the dyes with broad, inexpensive brushes, spray bottles, or sponges. I mix all of my colors from the three primaries: lemon yellow, magenta, and turquoise blue.

All of my work is for sale, commission opportunities are welcome, and I can travel for group workshops.
