Keely Angel
My name is Keely Angel and I am the founder and designer of Collective Hand, a textile studio specializing in natural dyes. The fabric that I dye in small batches is sewn into a number of self-care goods, apparel, and decorative pillows. Most recently I've been using my scrap fabric and learning how to quilt! I am deeply inspired by the colors of the natural world, and the presence and patience that is required to use natural dyes. I am inspired to create products that are made with care, considering the sustainability of the manufacturing process and that will hopefully bring the customer joy. One thing that I would encourage artists (we are all artists!) to remember is that making "mistakes" is how we grow- so focus on experimentation, and the pleasure of learning a craft.
I've been using Dharma fabrics for many years, along with mordants, raw natural dyes, and extracts (indigo, madder, osage, alkanet, cochineal).
