Kety Bagwalla

I am a silk artist based in Toronto, Canada. Though I hold a full time job, silk painting is my passion, and I devote time every day to this captivating art. I paint a variety of subjects on silk.

I have travelled far and wide, and learned silk painting in the Middle East at the Dubai International Arts College in Dubai. Last year, I did a week's workshop in silk painting at the Abiquiu Ghost Ranch in New Mexico with Dorothy Bunny Bowen.

My first exhibition was held in January this year at the Aurora Town Hall Skylight Gallery in Aurora, Toronto, and my work was displayed for a month as the "Artist of the Month."

The Artist Reception evening, which was a great success, was graced by the presence of Mayor Phyllis Morris, Mayor of the Town of Aurora.

I have been selected by a Jury to display my work in October this year at one of the Art Galleries in Toronto, and I will also be participating in another Juried Studio Tour and Sale in May.

All the paintings that I have displayed have been done by using Dharma products, like Dupont dyes, resist, silk scarves, stretcher, push pins, batik wax and P4 (thickener).
