Leslie Butler
My name is Leslie Butler of Give Grow Live Shibori. I have a BS from Ohio State in Textiles and Clothing and have studied Shibori at Arrowmont school of arts and crafts. I love the Shibori process and the surprise of unwrapping a scarf or tunic. I love the smell of fabric in a dye bath. I am inspired by colors and patterns found in nature...especially from the California coast!
I am currently working on scarves, tunics and place-mats.
My favorite scarf to work on is the luxurious Stone Wash Crepe de Chine. I also love the Light Rayon Poncho because it fits many sizes and dyes beautifully. The cotton place-mats and napkins also are the perfect weight and dye nicely. I use Dharma Fiber Reactive Procion MX dyes.
I have recently returned to my passion of dyeing after many years (and 5 kids!) of being away. My advice would be to never let go of your passion. It will always be there for you to return to when you are ready!
