Linda Speel

My name is Linda Speel and I have been dyeing since the late 1960's when I first learned batik from a friend. I took to it right away and spent hours experimenting and learning from books.
The last few years I learned about Ice dyeing. This along with my history was a new way to apply the dyes for me and I liked the softer look then the usual tie-dye I had done in the past.
I'm inspired by other artists and art work which may or may not be in a dye form. I use Dharma's Fiber Reactive dyes and have always used them. I use Flat Sinew, dye thickener, and sometimes will order a tool, like the safely mask when I need it.
One of the projects I've done over the years, is dye a large bed size cloth, send it to my friend who is a quilter, she quilts it and we raffle it off for the non-profits groups we are involved in.
I'm lucky to live in Petaluma where Dharma's warehouse is and I can call in an order and pick it up the same day! A dyers dream come true.
