Long Haired Mike

I first tried to make tie-dyes in the early-to-mid eighties with rit dye and sterno, which was for a learning experience only. It yielded many ugly shirts and a whole bunch of laughs.
Then I went to college and moved into an apartment above a Licensed Grateful Dead Manufacturer in 1989. Well, after two weeks of solid nagging the managers for a job, they let up and let me try it out, which was also a learning experience. I learned the techniques of tie-dyeing from the professionals. I became their dye manager and went on to learn so much about the manufacturing of mass-produced tie-dyes. I have since left the "big boys" of the tie-dye world.
In 1998, I opened my own home-based tie-dye "factory," GraphicRats Studio, tapping into the knowledge I had gathered and stored. I started out with a dozen t-shirts and a dye kit. I hit the local craft shows, and it has blossomed from there. Soon I had a website, which is available for secure online shopping at GraphicRats.com
My customers ask for all kinds of things. That is where Dharma steps into the picture. Shoelaces? I can get those. Dresses? Yup, I found a great source for dresses. Pants buddy. Can you get pants? Let me look. Yes, pants in all sizes from 3 month infant to adult 2x. I have tried the bookcovers too (even though nobody asked for them) and as soon as they found them in my booth - sold.
