Lydia Mead

My name is Lydia Mead, and I started my boutique shop Daughters of Lace in June, 2014, a business that has a vision to create unique, exquisite hair pieces for weddings and special events. Before I launched the boutique I had spent a year learning historic millinery techniques and thinking through design, and equipped with these skills I opened my Facebook shop page and Etsy shop, then proceeded to create a product range.

I use Dharma's thinnest silk habotoi to create translucent petals for my silk flowers, and dye the silk with their excellent range of acid dyes. Then I starch the silk, hand cut each layer, sew together by hand and press each petal to create beautiful silk flowers, and arrange flowers and handmade silk leaves into hair accessories.

I also use Dharma's silk chiffon and silk dupion to create both whimsical, delicate silk flowers, and weightier, luxurious silk flowers and leaves, depending on the style and design of the piece.

I am passionate about creating beautiful hair accessories and I am so glad to have found Dharma as a silk supplier. They are a fantastic, reliable and helpful team.
