Lynne Cunningham

I'm a mixed media artist and have been working professionally in the visual art / design profession for 25 years. Fabric painting with Jacquard paints is my current passion, and a return to textiles after many years. I've recently been exploring hand-painting abstract patterns on fabric and garments. I continue painting as well; I begin many paintings on canvas in acrylic, then layer on acrylic inks, and oils. I paint subjects most familiar to me: landscapes, cityscapes, floral, waterscapes and abstracts inspired by nature. Fabric painting is a new medium, an expansion onto another surface which is fabrics and garments.

I live in Davis, California. I'm a Signature Member of the International Society of Acrylic Painters and my work has been shown in over 50 solo, group and museum exhibits. I also instruct, and I'm represented in art galleries in Sacramento, the Bay Area and Southern California. My book 'Nature in the Abstract' was published in 2014, an introduction to painting abstractly, in acrylic paints and with an inspiration from nature. I paint subjects most intimate and familiar: abstracts, landscapes, cityscapes and memory paintings.

The Dharma Products I used for my hand painted fabrics are Jacquard Dynaflow paints, and I soon will be using Alum and Carageenan for marbling on silk. The best advice is to find products that you can get a good hand-feel, or buy some inexpensive products and play until you feel more experienced.
