Marg Janick-Grayston

After experiencing a dream in 1999 about silk painting, I started exploring this area of creativity. Not having access to instructors, I went to the library and delved into books on the topic. From the moment my paint-laden brush finally touched the surface of the silk, I was astounded by the vibrant beauty as the paint danced like northern lights across the fabric.

In 2007 I started exploring free-motion quilting, and now highlight my silk painted wall hangings with shimmering thread designs. In 2008 I partnered with my son and daughter to start a business called "Silkscape" and together we share our passions by offering workshops, promoting the care of the environment through our paintings, and bringing the beauty of the natural world that is our source of inspiration into the lives of people who see and purchase our work.

I use Dye-Na-Flow & Setasilk on 8mm Habotai silk
