Margaret Rodgers

My name is Margaret Rodgers, I am an Oshawa-based artist with recent exhibition activity including OshawaSpaceInvaders, Out of Time, Money etc., New York Story, FREE ART: the Grocery Tape Project (Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Oshawa), Baghdad Museum (Clarington, Stouffville, and Toronto), Big Girls (Doors Open Oshawa), and (site/cite/cité/city) SPECIFIC: "The Shwa" a downtown Oshawa project exhibited as RENEWAL at Red Head Gallery Toronto. She was founder of the IRIS Group, a collective of women artists, art teacher at Durham College, and Director/Curator at VAC Clarington. She is the author of Locating Alexandra (Toronto: ECW, 1995) about Painters Eleven artist Alexandra Luke, and is published in venues including OshaWhat, Art and Ecology, Sculpture, Urban Glass, Canadian Art, ESPACE, and the Journal of Canadian Studies.

In my mixed media artwork I am interested in mining the incidental imagery in daily life through the implementation of photographic transfer processes and paint applied to various grounds such as canvas, board or organza. I am finding that I can create a 3d effect by applying an image layer on a semi-transparent fabric over the layer on the painting ground.

I use Dharma heat transfer products.
