Hello world!
I have lived in southern Manitoba Canada all my life.Living in a rural area the winters can be long & I love it.
Being stormed in for days sometimes is when I created the best..no interuptions!
I'm a multimedia artist, dabbling in many mediums, If I have to pick a favourite it would be a tie between silk and acrylic on stretched canvas.
I found Dharma Trading Co. through a friend who also taught me the basics of silk painting. Painting on silk is similar to water colour painting, which I had been doing for years but painting on silk is so calming & "sensuous",isthe only way I can describe it.
I paint silk scarves, pillow tops, little whatnot baggies, sliding door panels & clothing for myself. I use gutta resist for drawing my design freehand, which I have to buy in Canada because they don't allow it through customs and french silk dye, silk scarves and yardage, bottles, tips, push pins, bamboo brushes are purchased from Dharma, their service is superior. The silk is then steamed for 2-3 hours & hand washed in mild soap, iron on silk setting on the wrong side. The colours will not fade or bleed.
I'm inspired to paint from the world around me & I like to encourage the budding artist who thinks he/she can't,Yes YOU CAN!
