Marjorie Lindemann

I have been using Dharma products (silk and silk dyes) for at least 15 years and have been an artist for the past 20 years. I worked primarily in watercolor until I discovered the unchallenged manner in which silk takes color... After the first piece that I created to hang over a fireplace, which I simply made happen with a beginners dye kit and its instructions from Dharma, I was absolutely hooked. I do scarves using gutta, thickened dyes and other more interesting products such as milk to control the flow of the dye in the desired patterns on the silk. I paint directly on the fabric and often overdye several times after steam setting. I also dye silk satin yardage, cut it into geometric shapes and machine applique using rayon thread onto a batting, and then mount it on a canvas stretcher, which is then framed. I prefer this presentation to the more traditional wall hanging.
I have lived all of my long life in the Midwest and have deep roots in its physical beauty and its culture. I currently live with my husband and cat in Cumberland, WI, where we both garden our hearts out. I am a retired teacher of the Emotionally Disturbed students in public schools.
