Mark Paniccia
Hi, My name is Mark Paniccia and I am 57 years old, born and raised in New Hartford N.Y. I started Tie-dying in 1980.
It all began back in 1979 when I saw my brother and his friends tie-dyeing some T-shirts with Rit Dyes and I used them at first but then I decided I wanted something more permanent and also I wanted to do it with my own technique.
I found a company by the name of Brooks & Flynn. The dyes were packaged in plastic bags . I had to figure out myself how to get those dyes not to run and stay permanent. It was all self-taught with trial and error.
Then I heard about Dharma Trading Company , I started using your dyes and absolutely fell in love with them.
About 5 years ago I started doing Mandalas when I was inspired by Courtney Pollock, best known for his colorful intricate mandala designs. I refer to them as Courtney Style but I put my own twist on them. All of those Tapestries are made with Dharma Procion Fiber Reactive Dyes.
