Except for advanced placement classes in junior high and high school, I have no formal art education other than a semester of watercolor 10 years ago! When I was still playing around with watercolor, I happened to see a piece of painted silk in a customs shop at the Canadian border. I was enamored with the way silk brought the picture to life. I never saw anything like it. Last year, I was searching for t-shirt art ideas/products and stumbled onto Dharma Trading Company. With a beginner's silk painting kit, some books, and a homemade silk stretcher frame, it was love at first brush stroke. I had finally found my medium! Dharma Trading Company has been key in providing me with supplies and information.
I have begun displaying my work at art festivals and a local art association gallery. I am so very excited because there are endless things to paint; everything I look at, I wonder how I would put it on silk!
