Melissa Belkin

My name is Melissa Belkin owner of Villavillakula wearable arts. I live in an old sewing factory in Brooklyn NY where I spend every free moment I have creating. I am a self-taught painter, photographer, and textile designer. Making these creations is what keeps me feeling alive and gives me an outlet for internal and external self expression.

I truly am a Dharma Trading junky. It is better than a kid going into a candy store for me. I prefer to hand dye my clothing with Dharma's fiber reactive dyes or hand paint with their Dye-na-flow paints as well as spraying them. For an example the tank with the woman's stitched face is Dye-Na-Flow fluorescents with super soft heat transfer paper of one of my handcrafted photos. The white hoodie was made with Dye-na-flow and a screen-printed with Versatex Printing Ink. The dress was hand dyed with Dharma's Royal Blue Fiber Reactive dye and discharged with a bleach solution by spraying it through my hand cut designs. It is on a Dharma Trading Co. 100% cotton ladies originally white dress. One more example is the hoodie with the tree. Again using Dye-na-flow, Versatex and Dharma's Super-Soft heat transfer paper.

Every item I make and sell is one of a kind and made with lots of patience and love.
