Noah Grinstein

Hello! My name is Noah Grinstein, I am 18 years old and started my business, FUEGO Tie Dye in October of 2015. It all began when I took a trip with my mom to my grandma's house.
We went to the local store and found a tie dye kit and knew it would be the perfect afternoon activity. So we set up the shirts on the grass out back, put some gloves on and got to dying. Thinking tie dye was something that little kids do, I stayed back at first. I watched as my little cousins grew more and more enthusiastic about the color combinations and the patterns they could create. On the inside I was also growing more and more excited about what colors would like nice together and how I would shape the shirt. Not being able to contain myself I went over and began on a shirt, surrounded by my little cousins.
Watching as the dye permeated the fabric and spread slowly through the wicks of the fibers, I was in a trance. I fell in love the instant I began dying the shirt. I decided to go for the classic rainbow, adding each color in the ROYGBIV spectrum with care and determination. Waiting overnight for the shirt to soak felt like it would never end. I kept laying in bed tossing and turning wondering how the shirt would come out. I was perplexed with the idea that a tie dye was not allowing me to fall asleep. It was then, for the first time, I thought how much I would love to tie dye for a living. But I instantly brushed the notion off as foolish and proceeded to doze off into a slumber.
I woke up the next morning with the same thought, of a "tie dye company". For some reason the idea just stuck in my head. I eagerly washed off my shirt and was stunned when it became unraveled. (I added a picture of this shirt : "first shirt.jpg"). I marveled at the tones and contours of the colors in bright contrast with the white. I understood then that the "mountains"in the folds of the shirt keep the color, and the "valleys" of the shirts stay white because dye couldn't reach there. I was fascinated by all of it. With this new thought implanted in my mind, we left back for Los Angeles.
Quickly I began to notice the number of people wearing tie dye, it was so many more than I had remembered. It was as if one in ten people was wearing tie dye. I thought back to this idea of a "tie dye company" and it suddenly seemed feasible. So I said, "let's do this". I decided to get serious and find the best dyes on the market. That is when my path crossed with Dharma Trading Co. Your "Procion" Fiber Reactive Dye is the most vivid dye, constantly people compliment the shirts saying that the color really "pops". That's when I tell them that I get all my dyes, chemicals and detergents from Dharma Trading Co. Time and time again your product has been consistent, reasonably priced and shipping times have always been super fast.
The name FUEGO comes from a new phrase that people have been saying more and more, when something is really good, you say that it's really fuego! I started by selling the shirts at school and and then made a website: www.fuegotiedye.com . I also have an instagram with about 3,500 followers @fuegotiedye . It was going so well that I decided to make a completely new website from scratch with brand new shirts to gain publicity.
My favorite colors are "Dragon Fruit", "Lavender", "Orchid", "Jade Green", "Ultraviolet" and "Robin's Egg Blue".
I'm sorry that I talked your ear off, I just love talking about tie dye!
