Patricia de Vreese

I began painting on silk approximately five years ago. I am a self-taught artist with a lengthy background in interior and graphic design. I owned a stained glass studio in Florida years ago. I have also designed for needlepoint and counted cross stitch. Silk painting has grown into a passion. I can't wait to see the finished project. It's always a surprise to me on however I envision a design; somehow the detail that can be achieved and the brilliance of the finished art is always a surprise. Most of my designs are in the serti method. For this, I have used the Jacquard Gold and Clear guttas. Most recently, though, I have switched to the Jacquard Metallic resists, and they are, by far, my favorite. They do not spread, and very clean and detailed lines can be accomplished. I have designed on Habotai and silk satin, but I do prefer working on Crepe de Chine. I own one of the Arty's frames with an extension, and I find that it works quite well for the scarves. The dyes used on my designs have been solely the Jacquard dyes.
