Peggy A. Schuetz

Hi my name is Peggy A. Schuetz. I paint with Acrylics & Silk, applying to canvas . I live in Anacortes Washington. Just recently some of my art was accepted in a Gallery in La Conner Washington. I am inspired by nature and all her colors expressing the life and beauty I see, especially in trees. They seem to ever be in a position of lifting their arms to life. I am almost 60, and a very "young" artist, having only started working with canvas in the past 3 to 4 years. Dharma has been instrumental in my expression, so any great mediums for silk to choose from.

I started with silk flags and banners for my church. A friend, and artist, Diane Stiles, was always encouraging me to "step out". Diane always felt there was an artist buried in me, she prompted me to try, I jumped in when for one of my birthdays, well into my 50's, she took me to a silk painting class. That's all it took for me, the dye hit the fabric and I was an addict:) After that class I went on line and found Dharma Trading. I started with some of your Silk starter kits, and yards of silk, of course. I like the Lumiere metallic Acrylics, the Pebeo water based Gutta, and their Setasilk, the Jacquard Silk Color, and recently you offered a Silver and Gold Glitter finish by Pebeo/Setacolor that speaks to my finishes... I love the metallic and sparkle. SO I started with the flags and banners, and was quite happy with that, then one piece I made so many mistakes I couldn't save it. I pulled it off my stretcher rack and tossed it in a basket. Another friend, and artist, who I would visit told me not to toss it, there were lots of mediums. I didn't even know that word, but I went out and bought canvas, for the very first time and tried to save my silk flag. What came out of that...amazed even me, so I went out and bought another canvass and did it again, on purpose, and here we are. It's very hard to see the texture you get of Silk Applied to Canvas from a picture, plus most of these are done from me painting something on silk, then tearing it into pieces and applying it to "form" my pictures:)

I am a Very spiritual person, so my love of color, to me, is best reflected with silk paint, and nature best reflects that, and now applying Silk, painted, on canvas well, it's very fulfilling. I also use a lot of the same Silk paints, directly on the canvas, along with other acrylics to emphasize what I want. I have since done a few "just" acrylic paintings on canvas, but always go back to the silk, and then apply that, I like those results best. I'll include a couple of other things for you to see, but I am still so new, there isn't a lot to offer just yet. I have no website, I have a couple of pieces at the Artist Remarque , an art gallery in La Conner Washington. I Sign everything "PS Anne Kendle" names have meaning, Anne means Grace, and Kendle, my maiden name, means from, or of the Valley. That's what I feel this gift is, so much later in my life, Grace from the Valley.
