Rick Kealoha Pa

Aloha, My name is Rick Kealoha Pa, and I am a Hawaiian artist living and painting my wood creations here on Molokai, Hawaii. I work with a style of batiks, which are done on wood. I use various types of wood to achieve various color tones in my art. This technique works well with wall art, as well as furniture accents. I have tried to inject my work into as many aspects of art as possible, such as table tops, cabinet doors, musical instruments, bar fronts, etc… I picked up this art form in asia over 20 years ago, and have done nothing else since then.

I use procion dyes like you would use water colors… The key to this style of batik is the resist that I use on the wood. Unlike wax, which is removed, my resist remains on the wood. This style of batiks requires the artist to also be a woodworker, due to the talents necessary needed to complete each art piece.

My website, www.studiokealoha.com, and my email address, rickpa@studiokealoha.com, will enable you to see more of my work. Contact me, if you care to.
