Sharon Strang
My name is Sharon Strang, and I am from Mobile, Alabama. I started Painting on silk about 5 years ago after being given a silk painting kit. Since then, I have used many Dharma books to teach myself, such as Susan Louise Moyer's Silk Painting books and Elfriede Moller's shibori book. I paint on habotai silk scarves and use large handkerchiefs for paintings. I use Jacquard and Marabu water-based metallic resists, Setacolor and Setasilk paints. I love the surprise of shibori and the "how does it do that?" of the Alter-Ego dyes on the devore silk scarves .
I look forward each month to the Dharma newsletter and the featured artists. Being a Gulf Coast artist, my love of the beach and water is reflected in my silks. My artwork is on display at a local gallery and has been featured in the newspaper.
