Stephanie Sprinkle

Who am I?
I am Stephanie Sprinkle from Miamisburg, Ohio. I am a quilter, who started to dye my own fabric with Procion MX dyes from Dharma. While I still make quilts, I do wonder if I am a fabric dyer instead of a quilter now. I have been dyeing fabric for almost 20 years now, and have made my way through direct dye applications, simple gradations, complex gradations, lots of types of resists, parfait dyeing, Shibori, and anything else I have run across.
While I enjoy all types of dyeing, I now seem to be really stuck on snow dyeing. And in particular, I am hooked on snow dyeing mandalas. There is something truly magical about a mandala pattern. It's the symmetry, I think, that makes looking at it very calming. Dyeing with snow causes the mixed dyes to separate and leaves the fabric dyed with interesting, almost crystalline and ethereal looking patterns. It is always a joy when the process is done and I get to open up a piece of fabric and see what it looks like. They are all as unique as snowflakes.
While I am mainly using Dharma Procion MX dyes on fabric intended for quilters, I have also purchased lots of Dharma's PFD clothing, towels, socks, napkins, bags, and all sorts of other things. I even have my very own snow dyed mandala shower curtain, thanks to Dharma!
