My name is Susan Brooks. As an artist and teacher, I not only have a passion for creating art, but for sharing my techniques and tools for other's success. I have recently published a book, Eco-Dyed Art Journals - Using Nature's Imprints, to further sharing my art and how to make your own.
I have been dyeing, using Dharma's Procion dyes, for many years and about 8 years ago was introduced to plant based dyes. The delicate impressions of plants on both fabric and papers became my passion for exploration over the next few years. After years of exploring and teaching my techniques, I decided I could reach a larger audience and write a book of, not only how to make eco dyed papers, but how to turn them into art journals. I have been using Dharma's natural dyes and tutorials, providing me with the dyes and the techniques to use natural dyes for about 5 years. I also combine the Deconstruct Silk Print fabrics, using Dharma Procion dyes, with the eco dyed papers and fabrics to create my own unique art.
