I am a self taught craftsman with a background in illustration and graphic design. I started designing and creating scarves out of my love for wearable art and a desire for scarves that I wanted, but couldn't find. All of my designs are original illustrations, and I love to focus on floral patterns. I chose to work with silk after learning about the environmental impact of synthetic fibers like polyester, such as the amount of waste it produces from production to fabric scraps. That said, all of my products and processes as a whole are also environmentally friendly.
I create silk scarves using both pre-hemmed silk for my long scarves, and yards of silk that I tear into desired sizes and hand roll hem for my square scarves. I either freehand or screen print my designs onto the silk with Jacquard water soluble resist and then hand paint them with the Jacquard liquid dyes. Then I steam set before washing with the Dharma Professional Textile Detergent.
