Want instant gratification? Don't have a lot of time? New at silk painting?

Using COLORHUE dyes is easy, fast and efficient because they require no setting procedures like heat, curing, or chemicals, and there is no powder mixing. The only additive needed is plain tap water to dilute the concentrated liquid colors to the desired shade.

COLORHUE is a concentrated dye approximately 15 to 20 drops of the concentrated dye in a 1/2 cup of water will make a medium color. But do not expect to achieve the results that artists achieve with professional silk dyes and steaming. Black is the most difficult color - more of a maroon-y eggplant. Great for beginners and classes, quick projects.

This Colorhue Silk Dye Set is a great way to try out this dye. includes six .5 oz bottles of concentrated dye in assorted colors along with instructions and technique suggestions. Works well on silk, wool, and we even got instant color on some celulose fibers like cotton, rayon, linen and hemp, but we recommend testing!

Kit contains:

  • Six .5 oz. bottles of Colorhue Dye (Rose, Canary Yellow, Electric Blue, Emerald Green, Black, Turquoise)
  • 6 plastic pipettes
  • Complete instructions and technique suggestions

In an attempt to get more intense colors I only diluted the red 12 the recommended amount. That was a mistake. While the red was very intense it was more than the silk could handle and continued to bleed after rinsing many many times. I emailed the company and was told the way to get more intense color is to use the correct ratio of water to dye leave the fabric in longer then let it dry rinse and then dye it again. That worked! The colors may not be as bright as Dye Na Flow or traditional dyes but they are deep and beautiful. Because of the speed with which they set you are more limited on the detail you can get as well. But hey it's pretty instant and no heat setting! I won't use it for everything but it definitely has its place in my studio. I also plan to use it for newbie classes.

Great for a beginner! Be aware salt and alcohol will not "move" the dyes. Try bubble wrap or plastic wrap to add additional depth and character to the silk.

I have dyed several of the silk scarves I purchased and they turned out really well. Great strong colors.

Nice colors but I used up the entire set on one 100g skein of yarn and still had large undyed patches. After the Colorhue dyes dry I'll have to overdye with Jacquard to take care of those areas.
