The ball winder was helpful in winding balls of yarn if one put some tension on the yarn as it went into the winder to wind tighter balls however the winder does not have capacity to wind a whole skien (310 yards+) of yarn. The clamp sometimes loosens as one is winding the yarn causing the winder to rack back and forth.

I bought 2 for my classes and returned them. The ball they made was not even and unless you clamp it to a side-corner you're kind of working away from yourself. Also the clamp was not attached and could get lost if you move these a lot.

I wind a lot of yarn and have tried a lot of different ball winders over the years. This model holds up the best by far. I'm glad to see Dharma is carrying it. The clamp is more secure and holds tighter than those on the built-in models.
