"In spring of 2007, my batik mentor, Janet Hart Heinicke, introduced me to the Jacquard Product line at Dharma Trading Company. I use the clear, gold, silver, and black gutta resist, and the procion silk dyes in my current work. I appreciate the stock of plastic bottle applicators and the various tips that I use in the resist process. Batik is a strong part of my Peranakan heritage. However, I have traded in wax and fabric for gutta and rice paper for now. I am inspired by traditional Chinese iconography, and also by the ocean."---Kemlyn Tan Bappe, Contemporary Peranakan Artist, Galleria Imago Dei, Fairfield, Iowa. My images were made with Clear Gutta Resist with Jacquard Procion Silk Dyes on Hosho Paper.
