My name is Donna Emperador, and I am the owner of Kizmet Kreations. I started tie-dyeing with my kids a few years ago as a gift for my husband, who has been wearing tie-dyes for at least twenty years. We used tie-dye kits from a local store and did the basic designs with rubber bands. The colors eventually faded and were a bit dull. I recently decided to start an at-home business doing creative projects such as tie-dye clothing, custom scrapbooks, and bead jewelry after I cut back my work hours to part time to spend time with our kids and new baby. I found Dharma Trading Co. on the Internet when looking for a supplier of blank clothing, and ordered many selections of adult and children's clothing, from dresses to camisoles, and even pet shirts! I also ordered a beginner's tie-dye kit with soda ash, Fiber Reactive Dyes, and urea. The colors were vibrant and did not fade even after many washings. My husband, Dan, began helping me with the designs, and we ordered Learn How to Tie Dye complete 3 volume set to learn new techniques. We now use artificial sinew instead of rubber bands, and have used Dharma's fabric markers and vanishing pens to create additional designs. All our products are washed in Dharma's fabric detergent, and then with vinegar after dyeing to remove any loose dye particles, and to prevent dyes from getting onto your skin when coming into contact with precipitation or perspiration. We recently have ordered purses, socks, hair scrunchies, shoelaces, and hats from Dharma to add to our accessories.
