Jessie Tucker

Hi there!
My name is Jessie Tucker. I am a wife, mother and textile artist.
It all started when I decided to tie dye some garments for my son when he was first born, what began as a crafty afternoon quickly spiraled into an obsession. I fell in love with the entire process. The freedom to fold, scrunch, bunch, twist and apply whatever colors you please is undeniably enjoyable. Then the waiting, I smile every time I realize I have a batch of tie dye waiting to be rinsed. Then, finally, the rinse. Slowly untying and seeing what you've created is almost magical, I can't get enough!
Before I knew it I was spending all my free time researching new techniques and products, and there was nothing white left in my wardrobe to dye. I decided to fund my never ending quest to own every color of dye available I had better try to sell some of my art, so I opened an Etsy shop.
My main inspiration is the joy I see in my son's eyes when he sees my products. It is amazing the effect bright beautiful colors can have on a persons mood, especially children. I aim to keep spreading that joy as far and wide as I can.
I love Dharma Trading Company, it's one stop shopping for high quality tie dye supplies. I use the Dharma Fiber Reactive Procion Dyes, and would never use anything else the quality is amazing. I use either Synthrapol or Dharma Professional Textile Detergent as both a pre-wash and to remove excess dye. I use Urea to mix stubborn pigments, and Soda Ash Fixer to prepare my garments. I tie my intricate designs with Artificial Sinew from Dharma, I actually ran out at one point and bought some at a local craft store, big mistake! Dharma's Sinew is the BEST. I also love the 100% cotton bandanas, good quality and so fun to dye.
