Shannah Warwick

I am Shannah Warwick of BlckBts (pronounced black boots) I create one of a kind nuno felted garments and accessories using hand dyed fabrics and merino wool. Each piece is unique and blends the line between art and fashion. I begin as a textile design using various dye techniques and started my line with hand dyed silk charmuese scarfs. After a few years I stumbled upon nuno felting and was totally hooked. Nuno felting has allowed me to add beautiful texture to my dye work and even move into making full garments. I work out of my home and have a dye/felting studio in my basement. By consistently working and finding ways to get my work seen, I have been able to turn my art into a business. There is simply nothing better then doing what you love and finding a technique that motivates you to make more and more.

I am inspired by many fashion designers including Alexander McQueen, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Betsey Johnson. I scour fashion magazines to find the lastest trends and colors to incorporate into my designs. I find a lot of inspiration on pinterest through other nuno felters and textile designers. I am also inspired by costuming and vintage clothing.

I use Dharma's black and white 8mm silk chiffon, cotton bubble gauze, bleached harem cloth, fiber reactive dyes, soda ash, urea, synthrapol, and sodium alginate.
