Sharon Liebman

My name is Sharon Liebman. I'm a self-taught artist. I have always been involved with some sort of art. In the 80s, I painted sweats, hats, tote bags, and aprons, and sold them for several years. In 1996, with the help of my husband and friend, we tie-dyed 60 T-shirts for my daughter's Bat Mitzvah. We used Dharma Fiber Reactive Procion Dyes, Soda Ash Fixer, Urea, and Synthrapol, resulting in the most vibrant colored shirts. Eleven years later, we are still wearing our shirts, and they are still as beautiful as the day they were made.

Last year, I silk painted a prayer shawl (talit) for my youngest daughter's Bat Mitzvah using Dye-na-Flow dyes and Permanent Resist, both by Jacquard. I applied them with the Gutta Applicator Bottle with a metal tip suspended in a stretcher frame, using silk thumbtacks and Chinese Suspension Hooks. The silk painting was so much fun, and addicting, that I am now making silk Artist Trading Cards using the same materials on Silk Habotai. The requests for trading are coming in faster than I can make them! The dyes are so easy to use, and the silk is perfect for this art form.

Needless to say, Dharma Trading has played a huge role in my artistic adventure as a fabric artist, in addition to always having what I need and supplying me with terrific service.
