Shauna Shiff

I love all things fiber, from yarn dyeing to quilt making to clothing. All clothing is sewn by me, from my original patterns, and then hand dyed in individual batches. The surface design that I use most is shibori, the art of folding, tying, and compressing cloth to produce a pattern. All scarves are my original drawings and are hand painted by me.

I have used many, many products from Dharma over the years, such as their dyes, including both Dharma Procion and acid dyes, as well as silk painting dyes, silk painting brushes, and all the chemicals that go along with dying: urea, soda ash, synthrapol, citric acid powder, discharge paste - the list goes on! I have tried and loved many of the scarves, but my preference is for the chiffon. The kona cotton I have dyed and cut up into quilts, and I have used the soy cotton jersey, the hemp cotton jersey, and the wonderful hemp silk charmeuse to make clothing. I did use gutta, but have switched to soy wax for a more eco-friendly alternative for my silk painting. Thank you Dharma for all your products and fast service!
