Use With

Calcium Hydroxide is a strong alkaline mineral used in natural dyeing, most commonly for preparing and maintaining indigo and woad vats. It helps reduce oxygen in the vat and increases alkalinity, creating the ideal conditions for successful indigo reduction.

A fine white powder also known as pickling lime, hydrated lime, slaked lime, or builders lime, Calcium Hydroxide is an essential component in many traditional indigo fermentation and reduction systems.

In small amounts, it may also be added to natural dye baths to modify pH and influence certain dye colors, particularly wood-based dyes.

When exposed to air and agitation, Calcium Hydroxide absorbs carbon dioxide and gradually converts into Calcium Carbonate (chalk), becoming non-toxic over time. Indigo vat residues are often considered compost-safe once fully neutralized.

Ideal for indigo dyeing, woad vats, natural dye chemistry, pH adjustment, and traditional textile dye processes.
