Angelus Leather Paint

USE FOR: Painting

USE ON: Leather, Vinyl

Featured Customer Comment

We've been using this paint for more than two years on wallets, key fobs and clutch purses, all items that are handled a LOT.

The paint holds up nicely, the colors stay bright even as the leather wears, or changes color depending on how it was tanned. (We test paint a leather before committing a lot of effort to it.

The paint does not hold on oily leathers!) I'm glad Dharma Trading is carrying Angelus Leather products now. Great decision!

For best results, make sure article is clean before application. allow to dry completely before wearing. Clean up equipment with soap and warm water. For higher gloss and scruff protection, apply a coat of Angelus Finisher. Angelus Acrylic Leather Paint colors may be mixed to obtain different colors. if thinning is necessary water may be used in small amounts but it is best to thin or lighten a shade by adding Neutral Acrylic Leather Paint. It is always best to apply two or more thin coats instead of one heavy coat. This paint has great coverage, so a little goes a long way.

Caution: Some leather articles have a silicone finish applied at the factory, it may be necessary to clean these items with Angelus Leather Preparer and Deglazer. Angelus Leather Paints are the BEST! When applied correctly, this paint won't peel or crack or feel tacky. The colors are brilliant and easy to mix for custom colors. I'm a professional costume designer and crafts artisan, and I paint a lot of shoes and other leather garments. I'm so excited that my one of my favorite vendors is now selling my one of my favorite products!

I ordered a selection of blues, "silver" and white. I was surprised by the little brush in the cap. I like the consistency of the paint. It's easily thinned with a dot of water.
The only thing I would give a heads up about is that "SILVER" is not really silver grey one would be used to seeing. It's more of a pearl and is translucent. If you want grey silver get the light grey too but expect that the metalic sheen to be slightly multicolored (pearl)

I've read here where gold is also translucent and requires an undercoat of mustard yellow.

Overall, I'm happy with this paint and will buy again.

I want to really stress that this leather paint is the BEST I have ever used. It does not crack, peel or skim off shoes, as other products do. You need to use a Duller if you do not want a lot of shine and a sealer on this paint when it is dry to protect it. Use the Duller made by Angelus as it works the best. These paints are all very inexpensive and durable to the extreme. One thing, you need to use a solvent based cleaner on the piece you are painting BEFORE you paint it. Paint does not adhere well if not. I LOVE THIS STUFF!!! Nita Krupp

I purchased white and silver (as well as silver glitterlites) to coat a pair of shoes and found the plain leather paint great. I used two coats of the white to cover my black shoes and had great results. I discovered that a sponge worked very well for my application. The white was spot-on and perfect after two coats. The silver (like another reviewer said) is very translucent and would need multiple coats to get the correct color.

Easy to use and covered very well. I painted ballet slippers "capezio tan" thinking that it would match the tan of Capezio tights, but it's a little darker than that. Next time I'll buy a shade lighter.
