This is Fruit of the Loom's most premium T-shirt, which is very reasonably priced. It is a sturdy 6.1 oz, 100% cotton jersey. Fruit of the loom has increased the density of the fabric too (more stitches per sq. inch) for better ink coverage and printing. It is very well constructed, with a seamless rib collar that has strong double needle trim, shoulder to shoulder taping, double needle bottom and sleeve hems, also cover stitched armholes. Not sewn with cotton thread.
So why would you buy this black T-shirt? Well, besides being well priced for the quality, it's a great canvas to show off opaque transfers, and to be screen printed, stamped or painted with opaque fabric paints like Lumiere/Neopaque and Setacolor. And, get this, it was specifically developed by Fruit of the Loom to be dischargeable! No more guessing from batch to batch whether it will discharge or not. Discharges to pale tan or off white with discharge chemicals like Thiox (Thiorea Dioxide) and Discharge paste. Discharges to rust with bleach. See example above - zebra done with Discharge Paste, monkey done with Bleach. (This is opposite to how some black dyed items discharge - you always have to test.) Can also be used with the special Discharge Ink that they sell for T-shirt Printers.
These used to be tagless, but because of customers who want to sew their own tags in, Fruit of the Loom gave up on the tagless, so for awhile, we will have mixed stock, and then they will all have tags again eventually.
