Instructions

Silkpaint Fiber Etch dissolves plant fibers like cotton and rayon and linen. You use it on blends like cotton/poly or silk/linen. You draw a design on the fabric with the squeeze bottle and then iron. The plant fiber is dissolved and washes away leaving a cutwork or reverse applique effect. There are lots of ways to use it and instructions and suggestions come in the box. It can be irritating to the skin and eyes so you have to be careful using it.

I am finding this stuff tricky to use. It is easy to use too much and damage the fabric, just as easy to not use enough and not get a clean burn-out. If anyone has any advice I would love to hear it.

Took me two goes to figure out how to use it. Was too cautious the first time. Second time I used more heat and it worked beautifully. Can't wait to do larger pieces. Thanks.

Wow! I did a scalloped edge around a set of napkins--it would have taken me so long to cut the extra fabric away because it was very small scallops--this was my first attempt with fiber etch and about 98% successful (I did stray over the stitching line in a couple of places with the fiber etch and had to repair a little) but I know what I'll do next time to prevent that. I see more projects in the future for me and fiber etch!

This was really great for preparing the devore satin for the alter ego dyes. I love being able to use my own designs in the fabric. Be sure to follow the instructions. (The video on Dharma's site was very helpful.)

I had alot of difficulty using this. I followed the directions and used this on a silk/viscose velvet and it barely worked.

Never worked with it before.
Great results, no complaints!
Being virgin at chemistry I actually expected it to stink. Well - it doesn`t! I`m so happy I can work with it any time, no need to wait for family to clear the coast. Thanks for stocking!
