Ready to apply right out of the tube. Make a small opening in spout with a straight pin. Perfect for class situations and children's projects. No messing transferring to applicator bottles! Iron to make colors washfast, so works great with iron set paints like Dynaflow and Setasilk.
Note for the Clear Resist: If subjected to the prolonged high heat of steam-setting it changes the composition of the resist and can make it really stick to the silk and hard to wash out. The best thing you can do at this point is GENTLY scrub with a SOFT toothbrush over the lines during the washing. It doesn't always work. If you use silk dyes and don't want to deal with resist being hard to wash out you can use solvent-based gutta and dry clean it out, or use the colored water-based resists that you leave on the fabric. Clear water-based resist does wash out easily if you use a silk paint rather than a silk dye because the paints only require ironing to heat-set.

High quality, no clumping. Dries in a reasonable time. I have set this gutta both with an iron and in a dryer, results were fine both ways. Definitely recommend this product to everyone.

Good flow, and very convenient that it can be used right from the tube. The flow is good if you warm it a little first.
Haven't washed my scarves yet, so I don't know how well the gutta will come out.

I have used this product for many years both professionally and in teaching workshops. In the tube it is so easy to sue but care MUST be taken to watch the thickness of lines, too much of the product will result in sticky lines that will get on other parts of the silk during washing even after heat setting. It takes time for the resist to dry also but I expect that now. The clear really works well at resisting the dye and comes off in stips after heat setting then washing. I find it to be a VERY reliable product and easy to use for experienced and newbies alike. ALL art products need SOME experience to use successfully. : )

I would go with clear rather than colored ones. I tried white, black, silver and gold with disappointing results compared with the clear.

The gutta was more difficult to remove than indicated in the directions. Even when it appeared to be out, when I ironed, the color smeared.

Not so gutta, if you ask me. I finally squirted the gutta into a gutta applicator bottle to use. The plastic nozzle tip grabs silk, does not push the material into the fabric.

This product worked well on cotton, but it isn't very precise or easy to control. It would be fun to play with, but I wouldn't try to do anything really fine with it; the metal tip applicator bottles are a much better way to go.

Didn't work well for my (admittedly experimental) purposes. Paint flooded the line too easily (but sure it's fine for regular silk-painting).

I had high expectations for black resist but was slightly disappointed. I had to use clear resist along side the black so the paint didn't jump the dam. I will buy it in the future though because it is far superior to black acrylic.

For new silk artists, this is a quick and easy resist. They do take some time to dry, for best results, and tend to "break through" more than standard gutta serti.

sometimes they are thick and make a heavy line,the only way to fix it is to transfer it into plastic bottle add a little water and use the metallic tip for outlining

The clear gutta is flawless, applies smoothly and is a perfect resist, I like it much better than some of the other brands I have tried. The long thin applicator tip is great for drawing. The BLACK resist looks good, flows good but doesn't set all that well, much more care has to be taken to NOT apply it thickly, not so easy for beginners. But the ease of use and strong blackness of line makes up for that.

The tube is great and application is easy. My only problem was getting the thickness right in order to stop the paint from bleeding through while being thin enough not to get gummy when heat-setting.

Not easy to control the amount of gutta that comes out of the tubes...I either push too hard and get too much or not hard enough and my line skips over the silk.

These are so much easier to use than the gutta you put into a dispenser. Much easier to get a smooth flow as long as you're careful to keep the air out.

do not wash out completely and the lines are very noticable, not intergrated or absorbed into the silk after the fabric has been washed.
