These are a medium weight silk with a great drape and flow. Silky with an extremely smooth shiny top surface, this is what many people think of when they think "silk". Nice when you want something more luxurious and less sheer, but still economical. The lustrous satin surface is wonderful for painting! These have hand rolled hems with 100% silk thread. Ready to dye and paint!

We recommend, especially if you are re-selling, to pre-wash in Hot water and Synthrapol or our Professional Textile Detergent, all silk before dyeing or painting to remove any leftover residue from the silk worms (Seracin) or finger prints and other stuff that can cause the fabric to dye unevenly. Our product Milsoft is excellent for restoring the soft hand to silk after dyeing.

These are really great scarves - love the weight. Sadly two in my last order had some tiny dark spots on two of them and I had to dye with darker colors to cover them. I hope this was a random incident as this is one of my favorite silks to use.

We're having very good results with these scarves. Their rich sheen is appealing. It is best to prewash them as they seem to have more "silk residue" on them than other silks. However, prewashing takes care of all of that.

This is my favorite "winter" weight. It feels so good next to my skin. Painting on this is a much longer process, because of the drying time. The results are well worth the extra time and effort.
