All beautifully made in China and sewn with 100% silk thread. We have them made extra long and with a synthetic insert which is an advantage for painting. Three different fabrics to choose from. Better to dry clean rather than wash silk ties. If washed, block until totally dry. Sorry, no returns on ties. Made in: CHINA (CN)

Quality was great, but it was hard to silk paint the tie because of the different layers. Does DharmaT have an unassembled tie so it can be painted and put together?

These ties are great! I perfer them over any others that I have ordered. The only thing that bugs me to pieces about them is the stitching on the back. Also, the thread doesn't dye because it's a polyester thread, so ususally that involves having to match thread and sew them up yourselves. But other than that I love them.

These were the first neck-ties I tried for my silk painting business. They are perfect! The fabric and weight is wonderful, and even with submerging them in dye baths they dried beauifully and take my landscapes to a new level! Wynn Creasy

I've had killer results with serti, sunprinting, salt, and brush-over shibori on both the Habotai and Charmeuse. Biggest challenge is sewing these wiggle-prone bias-cut B-words back together as smoothly as the manufacturers did. Ironing the detached silk layer onto freezer wrap stretched my first one too much. Wrapping the inner felt in plastic and pinning the silk back onto it to flatten it for painting worked better. Temporary basting along the seam and fold lines with non-stretching thread helped. But after reading Wynn's review I might try just not taking my next one apart at all :)

I liked the ties- they are easy to paint on. Using wax a bit more troublesome-only because of a little residue from melted off wax. I probably should have dye the tie a solid color first- then painted on top.

Love the neckties.
Even though you haven't asked me about the silk scarves, I have to tell you that the crepe scarves are hemmed with something that does not dye well. If it's silk thread, it should dye much better than this: painting dark colors makes a contrast that is not so pretty. Was this review helpful?

These neckties work great and are an excellent way to reach out to male customers. however, watch for places in the necktie where the dye will collect and cause uneven drying.

Nice quality. I recommend dying them in their own container and stir the liquid around the tie instead of the tie itself to keep the liner from twisting inside the silk.

This was good to work with, but the stitching on the back could be sturdier. I painted one of these blanks for my husband a year ago and the stitching is coming apart--it usually takes years before that happens to his ties.

As soon as they get damp at all from dye, much less from finishing, the material pulls, leaving ripples parallel to the woof (I think it is) that cannot be removed and that twist or torque the tie.
