A little while back we sent out a message to our customers that have purchased veils recently, asking what other sizes and styles of veil might be good for us to carry. We received a TON of responses! So, first, thank you very much to all of you who took the time to send in your ideas and suggestions, they are all very much appreciated.

Although we couldn't possibly carry through every suggestion, we are increasing our selection of veils to incorporate the most frequent of your requests. That means, we will be stocking all sizes of veils in both 5mm and 8mm, there will be a new size for the taller dancers - 45" x 144", and we are adding a triangular fringed shawl (similar to our #SFS44, but cut diagonally) for the hips (sounds like a medieval batte-cry, "FOR THE HIPS!!").

The new veils are on the way to us as we speak, carried by magic carpets straight from the sultans paradise, and at this time estimated to arrive towards the end of November.

Hand rolled hems hand sewn with silk thread. Dye & paint them, spin & twirl them, whatever! Dance the night away on silken wings. The rectangular veils are all 5mm Habotai (soon available in 8mm). The semi-circle veil is 8mm Habotai (soon available in 5mm too).

I have been actively dyeing these for 2.5 years and although I sell many of them I also wear them daily - so I'm giving feedback from both perspectives.

This fabric is stunning! It is my personal favorite. It dyes well and easily (FYI - I use the microwave method listed in the How-To's). The finished products are gorgeous, professional-looking pieces. Without reservation I recommend these.

That said, here are a few things to be aware of (please note I didn't feel any of them warranted lowering my rating - so these are simply FYI's for you). 1) Be gentle with the fabric when ironing it! Ironing against the grain can move the sheer threads in ways you won't want. 2) I find that during the dyeing process about 50% of the time the tag comes at least partially off - I don't care and have not found that my customers do so I don't find this a big deal just mentioning it. 3) Finally, it is hand sewn, so you do find some imperfections, but they are minor and so I just warn customers that is part of what they may find and advise they simply gently trim any loose threads.

Again - this is a fabulous product - I've dyed hundreds of these guys by hand (and the 8mm ones). Highly recommend!

I sucked one of these up in the vacuum cleaner.Way up there! I yanked and yanked and finally had to take the vacuum apart. It was filthy and I knew it would be ripped to shreds. I washed the silk and it was perfectly fine, no tears or stains!

Wonderful value! These are a great size for playsilks. They are thinner than the 8mm Habotai Scarves, but make lovely flow-y giant playsilks/canopys.

What a great product. We used these recently in a Belly Dance show and they were beautiful under the stage lights. We had dyed them of course.

The 5mm silk flows thru the air so wonderfully. Thanks for offering such a great product for my girls. They had a blast dying these, then getting a chance to show them off in front of an audience.

These are consistently excellent quality, feathery-lightweight silk garments that I've been using for years. Add a drop of fray check to each corner to prevent unrolling and they last longer.

These veils make great belly dance veils for the average height dancer. I just wish that 4 yard lengths were offered for my taller friends.

These are great for dyeing and I have dyed and sold dozens. Warning: a few of these veils have had polyester thread in the hem, and it doesn't take the dye. It's unusual, but it does happen.

I have been a little unhappy about the quality of the silk. The sheen is great but there are pulled threads and places where the silk looks as if it has been pulled apart. I do really like the semi circle veils and have nothing but good to say about them

Not every dancer will like the lightness of these veils, but as an Egyptian style "swish and ditch" dancer, I really love the floatiness of the veils. They only get softer and smoother when you dye them, too.

This is a good design problem size for students to work with. Then the end result is a shawl that wraps around you beautifully. I have loved the acid dyes and guide sheets on how to use. The end result are lovely, affordable silks that everyone enjoys.

This scarf is an incredible value and dies beautifully. It was my very first dyeing project and I was amazed at how gorgeous it turned out. I wore it on a trip to Paris just after I made it and I could have sold 20 of them to just about everyone I met, flight attendants, Parisiens, etc. Love it and intend to make dozens more.

Nice veil all finished off with tiny rolled hem. The only reason I don't give it five stars is that I bought it for belly dance and I found it too light weight for veil work.

Finally discovered a use for these lovely items... they are great for making Fortunnay - my spelling may be wrong here - type pleated stoles which are very popular with customers because they look so elegant and magical.

The larger of the two was a wee to narrow and a wee to short but in all I think i will enjoy dancing with it. The smaller one will be perfect for the young lady.
