Product Description

Here's a better Tjanting from Indonesia, the home of batik. Carefully handmade in a small village with all copper parts and Teak wood handles. Copper is easier to heat than the brass ones, and the tips produce a finer line. Some also use the size #1 for drawing very fine lines of wax to make Ukranian Easter Eggs! These tools just look good too!

#1 = 1 mm
#2 = 1.5 mm
#3 = 2 mm

Also in double spout (for parallel lines and filling larger areas) Size #2.

Made in: INDONESIA (ID)

I'm happy with the sharp edged lines you can have with these tools. They retain their heat for a decent amount of time though I wish it were longer.

I love mine they work great! I have never had a problem with them. If a person does get a defective one they should call Dharma! I am sure they would replace it!

I have used these tjanting tools for 13 years as a professional batik artist. The wax stays plenty hot in the cup for a good amount of work time before I have to refill. I appreciate the shape of the cup as well as it contains the hot wax instead of it easily spilling out. The tools do wear quicker when left in the hot wax but I just see it as part of the material use of my craft. They are easily tightened up by squeezing with pliers until one has to retire the tool. These are handmade fine tools very effective and affordable. I hope they are around as long as I am still batiking!

I have been a batik artist for several years and these are the best tjantings I've used yet. I love this design and the lines are finer and more consistent than other tools. The reservoirs are easy to fill up and the design makes more sense than the other tjantings. The only problem I've had with these is that the copper part became loose from the wood handle after prolonged heating which i fixed with tape repeatedly. Just don't leave them hot for a long time. Even so these are still the best I've used.

I don't like the way they were made or they way handle heated wax which takes forever to melt under a heated lamp.

The week after I received these I tried one out at the batik course the other ladies were so impressed by the tjantings that they asked me to order for them too which I already did. I recommend these tjantings they are better than the other ones which I also have and worked with.Astrid
