Product Description
This silk fabric has a soft, lustrous and supple hand. Perfect for beginners as it is economical, has a smooth surface and lends itself to most painting techniques. Good for fairly sheer scarves, pillows, linings, very light weight flags etc.
Fabric Details

• 100% Habotai Silk
• 5mm, 36", 45", or 55" wide
• You can dye this with Acid Dyes
• We found that this shrinks 8% in Length and 1% in Width disclaimer
• Available in cut yardage and 55 yard bolts
• Machine wash in any temperature water

Remember, bolts vary! They can be over or under - we charge you for the actual yardage. If you need very specific yardage, order cut yardage.

I bought this to use for nuno felted scarves. It has more luster than the 8mm chiffon I had been using, shrinks less in my dye bath and during felting and is less expensive. I am a convert!

This Habotai dyes beautifully and is the perfect weight for nuno felting. Results are gorgeous - I'll be back for more!

Diaphanous stuff. Great for scarves! Too lightweight for dresses unless used in multiple layers. Handle carefully, as its delicate.

Love this fabric--so scrumptious as a lining. Susan Khalje recommended silk habotai for lining and I was delighted to find the fabric on your site. I live in an area where there is NO option for fabric up-close and easily touched. Your fabrics are delivered exactly as your site describes.

This was our first time ordering from Dharma Trading Co. We were impressed with how quickly our order arrived and found the silk we ordered to be of very good quality. We used it for an adult craft program where each person used indelible markers to decorate the fabric, then sprayed or dropped on rubbing alcohol to disperse the colors.
